Price the actual collection and coverage
Start with the chosen material, collection, profile and finish. Composite and PVC are not interchangeable categories. Check the effective coverage of each panel, its available lengths and how the layout affects offcuts. An elevation with many windows or narrow returns can have a very different usable yield from a simple rectangular wall.
List the parts that a panel price leaves out
Include clips or screws, corner and perimeter trims, starter details, substrates and any required furring. Separately identify weather barriers, flashing, demolition, access equipment and disposal where the work requires them. A material quote is not an installed bid unless the scope explicitly includes installation.
Compare quotes on equal terms
Send the same drawings and finish selection to each bidder. Ask whether delivery, tax, accessories and waste are included and whether the quantities use net wall area or ordered coverage. Confirm lead times and return conditions before ordering. A cheaper panel can produce a more expensive installation if the design requires extra trim, cutting or support.
